 18. Leg 5  - SW Coastal Path 18: Port Quin to Port Isaac circular

24 October 2018

We just had a couple of hours on our final day for a shorter circular walk to Port Isaac. We parked in the National Trust car park at Port Quin early enough to get a space. It was full by the time we returned! Port Quin is a natural harbour. This little village is also referred to as ‘the village that died’ due to the disappearance of all of the men of the village sometime in the 19th century. It is thought that they all drowned at sea whilst fishing, forcing the women to abandon their homes.

We didn't have long to enjoy Port Isaac but will be back to complete the section from Port Isaac to Trebarwith.

 17. Leg 5 23 October 2018 - SW Coastal Path 17: Crackington Haven to Bude

Several steep valleys in this section including Scrade which is one of the deepest and steepest valleys on the Cornwall section of the Coast Path. Once past Widemouth Bay, where we had a welcome pasty and mug of tea, the path was a lot more gentle.

Back to Boscastle for a wander around and meal & a pint in the pub!

 16. Leg 5  - SW Coastal Path 16: Tintagel to Crackington Haven

22 October 2018

We walked from Tintagel to Crackington Haven on our second day.

https://www.southwestcoastpath.org.uk/walksdb/147/

'This stretch involves climbing through valleys and across cliffs with spectacularly sheer drops to the Atlantic below. There has reputedly been more imported post Roman pottery excavated from the headland of Tintagel than in the rest of Britain put together and this fact, along with the heroic and mysterious literary legends of King Arthur which surround the area, should highlight how historically significant this stretch of Cornish coastland really is.'

Stunning views, lunch in Boscastle and a well deserved pint in Crackington Haven before the bus trip back to Tintagel.
